A Little More Flare

Photography by Crystal Kong

Three things I'm currently loving: flared jeans, statement sunglasses and a really good lipstick which happens to encompass this entire look. I've always been skeptical of flares due to my height but the length on these fit just right. My legs look long and lean and I didn't need to get them hemmed. For anyone short like me, I know you know the struggle. I paired it with a black blazer and black accessories for a work-wear inspired look. Topped everything off with a pretty pink lipgloss and some dope shades.

First day of Fall

Photography by Justin Truong

Today was the first day of fall, my favorite season by far. As you can see from this look, I love to layer and I love wearing boots! Transitioning these over-the-knee beauties from last winter, I paired it with the perfect fall poncho from Dynamite Clothing. I'm in love with their entire collection, so definitely check them out.

I'm not going to lie, the weather has been brutally hot the last few weeks here in LA with no end in sight. Looks like we'll be on the hunt for a cold October.

Fashion Week Inspired Look with Boohoo

 Photography by Justin Truong

This look is in collaboration with Boohoo's latest campaign  called FROW Fashion. Inspired by the front row, I styled this Boohoo outfit with the idea of New York Fashion Week in mind.  I've learned over the years of attending, that less is definitely more. So I stuck to what I do best, pairing a simple camel colored skirt with a cream turtleneck and black accessories. One day soon, I'll surprise you all with pops of color!

Stay tuned for more looks this week. Follow me on Instagram @melanee if you're not already!

OOTD: Fall Style

Photography by Justin Truong

I'm ready for fall, are you? If you live in LA, you've also been suffering in the 90 degree heat with me. All I want to do is cozy up in a cute scarf and sweater. Is that too much to ask for? I usually don't dress things up (I live in denim) but this skirt from Cosette Clothing was too cute not to. I paired it with a simple black blazer, white top and nude accessories. This is how we do fall in LA! A big thanks to my good friend, Justin for shooting me in the heat. Stay tuned for three more fall looks we shot together.

I Left My Heart In Texas

All pictures taken at the JW Marriott Austin

Crystal and I planned this trip to Austin spontaneously one day while on a road trip to Ojai. Her and I live for our adventures, and this one was the best one yet! Our itinerary (yes, we made one!) included searching for art walls to take copious amounts of pictures, Barton Springs, tubing down the San Marcos River, paddle boarding and watching a million bats fly out of the Congress Avenue Bridge at sunset. Of course, we also devoured BBQ, Tex-Mex and hunted for the best coffee shops. By the time the trip was done, I was heat stroked, too full to eat another bite, had over 200 pictures to sort through and twelve large and in charge mosquito bites. It was a great trip, indeed.

We did find time to squeeze in a little r&r at the JW Marriott Austin. We love to have a good time but we also love to relax. The hotel was exactly as I pictured, modern and chic with comfy beds and awesome amenities. They welcomed us warmly with make your own margaritas and a delicious cheese plate (they know the way to my heart!) My favorite part was the pool area, with the shape of Texas etched at the bottom and city skyline views. The hotel offers three restaurants, two bars, a Starbucks and a fitness center. The options are endless!

I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments from the trip that were captured on my Instagram. You can follow me HERE or you can also check out hashtags #jetsetmelanee and #melcrys2015 for all the fun adventures we've been on this year.

Great reminder spotted near Hey Cupcake!
Paddle Boarding at Rowing Dock was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

Taxidermy store filled with skulls, horns, rugs etc...not suitable for all
Seventh Flag Coffee makes a pretty good iced latte with soy
This was pretty scary but definitely worth the bruises I got to take this shot

The first wall we hunted. Hello, Austin!

A huge thank you to the JW Marriott for the stay and to the staff for making us feel extremely welcome. We hope to be back very soon!
